Ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon, Andrew Caster, has performed more than 30,000 laser vision correction surgeries. His is known as one of the most experienced laser vision correction surgeons in Southern California, as well as throughout the United States and internationally.
Dr. Andrew Caster received both his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from Harvard. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Caster was named the best Laser Eye Surgeon in Los Angeles by Los Angeles Magazine in 1999. W Magazine selected Dr. Caster as one of the two, top LASIK surgeons in the United States. His peers voted him to be one of the “Best Doctors in America.
In an effort to educate the public on LASIK and laser vision correction, Dr. Caster has appeared in numerous articles in Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times, and the Wall Street Journal and other publications. Dr. Caster was featured on NBC’s Today Show with Katie Couric discussing advances in laser vision correction. He also was the LASIK surgeon featured on the first season of Fox’s reality show The Swan.
To introduce people to the LASIK procedure, Dr. Caster has performed LASIK on several news programs including former Lakers’ player Kurt Rambis’ procedure on Fox Sports, actor Lorenzo Lamas’ laser vision correction surgery on Hard Copy and anchorman Kyle Kraska’s procedure on KCBS Channel 2 News.
As a way to teach the general public about LASIK, Dr. Caster wrote The Eye Laser Miracle; The Complete Guide to Better Vision, which is published by Ballantine Books (a division of Random House). This informative guide is the most widely read book in the United States on the subject of laser vision correction surgery. It is available both in bookstores across the country and through amazon.com.
Dr. Caster is one of only four ophthalmologists to be appointed to the Clinical Advisory Board of Alcon. Dr. Caster works as an advisor to engineers and scientists as they are developing new laser vision correction technology. Dr. Caster also trains and educates physicians from all over the US and abroad about the newest laser correction techniques at day-long seminars and lectures. |
